Dulwich Picture Gallery are offering a unique opportunity for SSLP Year 10 and 11 students to re-write one of the descriptive cards on their world famous pictures.  You have 80 words to highlight the best thing about one of four paintings – and a chance to win £100.

Deadline for entries is Thursday 22nd February 2018

The competition is to re-write the gallery label for one of the below artworks.  It’s very easy to enter – all you do is email your entries, with your full name, year group and school to Sue Mulholland, Director of Art and Design at Dulwich College.  Your word limit is 80 words and there is a cash prize for the winners.

Good gallery labels tell the viewer the most important things about that artwork clearly.  There is a mini presentation about label writing from the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Announcement of Winners Tuesday 27th February

From the entries submitted the curators at the Dulwich Picture Gallery will chose three winning entries (£100 for first prize, £25 for second and third) the winners will be announced on Tuesday 27th February at a private view and lecture evening which is being especially organised by the Dulwich Picture Gallery for students (more information will be available soon).  The winning labels will be displayed alongside the relevant painting.
