Additional information:

Tuesday 27th February 2018
Students, parents and teachers are warmly invited to the launch of the Foundation Schools Art Lecture Series, in partnership with the Dulwich Picture Gallery. This is the first event organised jointly by Dulwich Picture Gallery, Alleyn’s School, Dulwich College and JAGS for the benefit of all SSLP schools; it is hoped this will develop into three Art lectures a year.
At 6pm there will be a unique opportunity to privately view the David Milne: Modern Painting exhibition, and then at 7pm you will listen to the Gallery’s principal curator, Peter Kerber, speak amidst the permanent collection on The Art of Learning from Art.  Peter will focus on three questions: How is Art History relevant to careers in and outside the Arts?  What role can Art History play in helping us become the kind of person we aspire to be?  And How can the works of art at a museum like Dulwich Picture Gallery guide us as we try to answer the first two questions?
Dr Joseph Spence, Master of Dulwich College, and Jenny Scott, Director of the Dulwich Picture Gallery, will open the evening with an ‘in conversation’ centred on the importance of arts education and the role of the gallery.
You can RSVP on Eventbrite or email any queries to Sue Mulholland
