Free places were available to ambitious pupils (age 15+), who perhaps did not have personal connections or networks, at the Wings of Hope Back to School Day: Bridging the skills of today and tomorrow.  It was held on Sunday 21 January 2018 and hosted at Dulwich College.

This inaugural, charitable event from Wings of Hope – the Children’s Charity that provides free education to children in the developing world – was aimed primarily at giving young people an opportunity to make contacts and to support their ambition.

The young delegates met ‘teachers’ who are renowned and inspirational leaders to learn key insights and life skills. The day’s ‘classes’ included:

  • Fighting to Win – Anthony Joshua, Heavy-weight boxing champion
  • How Humans Should Live in a World of Machines – Google Deepmind
  • How to ask tough questions – BBC’s Justin Webb
  • How to survive the worst storms – Roz Savage MBE – single-handedly rowed across 3 world oceans
  • Professor Lord Winston – on a topic to be confirmed

Business executives also participated for a fee, including the Young President’s OrganisationFacebookJaguar LandRoverThe British Fashion Council, members of the House of Lords, and Founders Factory.

The students had the opportunity to meet inspiring mentors from industry, and also hear from some inspiring high profile speakers, in a fun afternoon.
