University Mathematics Preparation
5 week course Monday 25th February to Monday 25th March
Alleyn’s School, 3:50-5pm

Sam Parkin, Mathematics Teachers at Alleyn’s School ran a series of sessions to develop problem solving skills for students who were currently in Year 12 and planning to sit a university admission test in mathematics (TMUA/MAT/STEP).

The course looked at questions from each of these exams and aimed to develop skills in Curve Sketching, Proof, Quadratics and Cubics and Trigonometry. The course was held at Alleyn’s School from 3.50-5.00pm for five weeks:

  • Monday 25th February,
  • Monday 4th March,
  • Monday 11th March,
  • Monday 18th March,
  • Monday 25th March.

Places were limited with only EIGHT available. Initial priority was given to state schools and limited to a maximum of two students per school. The course was only relevant for students who are very engaged with the subject and have a high level of competency on the A Level material. In particular those students looking to apply to study maths at Oxbridge.
