SSLP Photographic 2020

A 2020-21 competition for SSLP staff and students

Photography is the art of capturing light in-order to create an image, and although all you may need is a camera to begin it is the subject, the light, the composition and the emotion within the finished piece that will bring your photography to life.

The SSLP Photographic competition spread over five months will test your resilience and ability to regularly produce work of a high standard and to a given brief. You will be asked to submit one photograph each month that will satisfy the theme for that month.

The competition has now closed. Congratulations to all the winners and the entrants.

The winner of the portfolio prize for the best collection of five pictures was Olivia from Queen’s College London

March – Our theme for March was Self Portraits. This was probably the hardest of all the themes. Photographers were challenged to take a picture that truly reflects themselves.

February – Our theme for February was Macro. Entrants were encouraged to get up close to everyday objects to give them a new look. The entries can be viewed on Flickr.

January – The theme for January was PAINTINGS. Entrants were asked to get creative and to submit a photo of a recreation of a famous painting made using things available during lockdown. To see all the pictures go to Flickr.

December – In December entrants were tasked with submitting a STILL LIFE. Below are the winning entries. To see all the pictures submitted go to Flickr.

November – In November entrants were tasked with submitting a photo in response to the word Street. Below are the winning entries. To see all the pictures submitted go to Flickr.
