Connecting Schools

The SSLP welcomes schools with an ambition to work in partnership to the benefit of all their students and teachers. Our schools commit to sharing ideas, resources and facilities and to learning from each other as equal partners.

One of our first activities in 2018-19 was an athletics competition held at the end of the first half term on Thursday 16th October from 10am-2pm.

Seven students from Years 8 and 9 made up the single sex teams, providing an opportunity to use the world-class facilities at Lee Valley Athletics Centre. Teachers also had the chance to practice the English Schools Athletics Association scoring system.

The event was free to schools as the hire fee was paid by the SSLP. Each school made their own way to the venue, either using school buses or public transport. We encouraged neighbouring schools to share transport if practical.

Each school brought at least two teachers and another person aged over 16 to assist with the running of the event, supervision of students and first aid. Students provided their own refreshments.

Activities included High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, 60m sprint, 200m race and Sprint Relay.

Ten teams representing six SSLP schools took part in the inaugural SSLP Indoor Athletics Competition. The winning Girls’ Team, with a combined total of 424 points, was Alleyn’s School, whilst the winning Boys’ Team was Dulwich College with 418 points.

Thank you to Ark Globe Academy for organising this activity. We hope to repeat this in 2019-20.
