We were really rocking on Tuesday at The Charter School North Dulwich when eight bands from six SSLP schools came together for a Song Writing Workshop organised by the SSLP Music Hub. They worked with four industry experts in the morning and then gave us a performance after lunch, choosing to either do a familiar cover or their own music. Two bands from Alleyn’s School and one from The Charter School East Dulwich were brave enough to perform their own songs for us!

Students from six SSLP schools gathered at Dulwich College on Tuesday for a live Thinking About with Adam Kay. After a workshop exploring some of the key themes Adam shared fascinating insights into his varied career as a doctor and writer. Adam, whose best-selling book This is Going to Hurt was adapted into a hugely successful eight-part BBC comedy-drama, was interviewed by Year 12 student Zaki.

40 aspiring pastoral leaders came together on Thursday at Alleyn’s school for the finale of this year’s professional development series. They had the opportunity to hear from four experienced pastoral leaders, ask questions in small groups and to network over dinner. Seventy-three individuals took part in one or more of the learning opportunities this year.

Every SSLP school is represented by two Student Ambassadors who together form a Student Council influencing SSLP student activities. They meet at the beginning of each term to discuss upcoming events. We met earlier this week, with representatives attending from Alleyn’s, Compass and JAGS.
As well as engaging with this term’s activities Ambassadors will be encouraging students to participate in this year’s impact evaluation.

Reflections and Perspectives

This is the fifth and final round of the SSLP Photography Competition 2023, this month we are looking for pictures that play around with the real world. You might respond to the word ‘reflection‘ by capturing a mirrored image or by showing someone in a state of reflection; or perhaps you’ll be inspired by the word ‘perspectives‘ and show something from an unusual angle or create an illusion by lining up things near and far. If you’re very clever perhaps your image will respond to both words! We look forward to seeing what you create.

Use your imagination, camera settings and, if you wish, editing software to create an image that that responds to Reflections and Perspectives.

Our guest judge this month is artist and Software engineer, Karl Sims
