One year on from the shocking murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis,
SSLP students have been able to come together to watch four powerful films reflecting their own experiences of racism.
Made by students in years 9, 10 and 12 from thirteen SSLP schools, these four films are the result of six-months collaboration. Each film has been accompanied by a lesson plan packed full of ideas for activities that can be used with Year 8 classes to explore their own experiences. We gathered at Theatre Peckham last night to watch the films for the first time as a collection. We also heard about the importance of promoting African cultural experiences here in London from Belvin Tawuya of the Africa Centre and Maria Askew from Mountview spoke about Decolonial Storytelling.
