The Team

Our Team consists of two Directors, Deputy-Directors, SSLP Staff Champions and a Coordinator. We meet at least once per term to discuss our priorities and to share knowledge and experiences that might be useful to our colleagues.

Directors

The SSLP has two co-directors representing the independent and state schools. Currently we have Dr Joe Spence, Master of Dulwich College, and Marcus Huntley, Principal at The Charter School Bermondsey.

Deputy Directors

From September 2023 we will also have a team of Deputy Directors who will support the Directors. Anyone wishing to be considered for this role should email admin@sslp.education with the support of their headteacher.

We’re delighted to announce Lara Brookes, from JAGS and Claire Rodin from St Thomas the Apostle College as our first Deputy Directors.

SSLP Coordinator

The SSLP employs a part-time coordinator who acts as a central point to collate and communicate opportunities between schools. Katie Barretta has been with us since September 2016 but will be leaving at the end of October 2023.

Staff Champions

Each school nominates one or more SSLP Staff Champion(s) who communicate messages between the SSLP and their school, one of these members of staff is often a Deputy Headteacher with authority to make decisions about events to host, and to authorise absences for attending events.

Mr Jones is Director of Partnerships at Alleyn’s and as a classroom teacher of Physics would love to deepen his understanding of neurodiversity and, in doing so, become a better teacher for more students.

Mr Collins is Vice Principal at Ark Globe. He has been teaching for over 25 years and believes in education as the tool for young people to explore and experience opportunities and environments that they may never have believed possible.

Ms Hall is the careers lead and has always had an excellent working relationship with the SEND team and building on best practice to give all student inclusive access to careers education to ensure the best progression routes for all student.

My name is Ms Watson. My favourite subjects are Mathematics and Accounting. I also love aspects of Marketing. I love to bake and cook. My favourite TV programme is Master Chef. I also like interior designing.

Ms Brookes, Staff Champion, is the Head of Careers at JAGS. She is passionate about empowering all young people to reach their full potential through delivering teaching strategies, especially embedding the effective use of IT and Technology, to aid the learning of all.

Ms Fenwick, Neurodiversity is very important to us as a school – I have spoken to our Director of Neurodiversity (renamed from Learning Support), Ms Curtis.

Ms Kouppas is an Assistant Headteacher at St Saviours and St Olaves, a Chemistry teacher passionate about the sciences and the differences in how the mind works, in order that we support students the best way we can.

Mr Lewis is the Vice Principal at SBUA. I am passionate about ensuring that all students feel a tangible sense of belonging to our school communities and receive an outstanding education.

Ms West is Deputy Headteacher at The Elmgreen School. In a non-selective comprehensive school educating and including neuro-diverse learners is central to what we do. She is passionate about ensuring that ALL students, irrespective of background or their starting points are able to thrive in education.

Ms Hehir is a Vice Principal at EGA, her favourite subject is English. Having an inclusive classroom and school is one of the most important goals for Lucy and learning about how to support neuro-diverse students and staff is central to our work.

Mr May is the Leader of Creative Arts and Enrichment at Charter Bermondsey. As an experienced teacher, theatre maker and cultural activist Ben is passionate about empowering children and young people to take advantage of accessible, inclusive, and inspiring educational and cultural opportunities to enrich their work and life choices.

Mr Somerville is Assistant Headteacher for Personal Development. His favourite subjects are Economics and Business, both of which he has taught for many years. Andrew believes that schools, universities and employers, as well as our communities. benefit from diversity of all kinds. Diversity encourages innovation and creatiivty.

Ms Stanley is the Staff Champion from Dulwich College. She teaches Physics and is passionate about empowering teachers to deliver a hands-on STEM curriculum that teaches critical thinking skills, fosters ingenuity and inspires creativity.

Mr Allison, Assistant Principal Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich. I am a big advocate of the power of school-based networks such as the SSLP to enrich the lives of students and teachers alike. I am looking forward to supporting the work of SSLP on Neurodiversity this year.

Mr Harding is the SSLP Champion for Kingsdale Foundation School and Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for pastoral care. The school prides itself on its culture of respect and inclusivity and is committed to improving the opportunities for neuro-diverse students and staff

Ms Rodin is the SSLP Champion for St Thomas the Apostle College. She is passionate about access for all.

Mr Rees is the SSLP staff champion at Westminster City School. Throughout his career in teaching he has had responsibility for overseeing inclusion, behaviour and SEND. He fully appreciates that by embracing neurodiversity in schools it can improve inclusivity for all people.

Mr Smith is Assistant Principal at St Michael’s and has responsibility for the 6th form, with a particular focus on personal development, enrichment and UCAS. Gary is very keen to support the student leaders and Diversity Ambassadors at St Michael’s who are currently working on projects to promote awareness of neuro diversity and to improve support for neuro-diverse students and staff.
