Refugee Week 2020 runs from the 15th to the 21st June and here at the SSLP we will be building on the things we have seen and heard over the week with an extended Thinking About… on Tuesday 23rd, 4pm. Connie Abbe, performer and campaigner, will speak about her experiences in South Sudan and will comment on a pre-recorded interview with fellow performer Emmanuel Jal.

We’re over halfway through our Thinking About… webinar series and the response from the SSLP Community has been fantastic. Thirteen SSLP schools have participated in one or more of the talks, with a total of 239 attendees!
An average of 75 people have attended each of the lectures with one feeding back that “these remote lectures and q&a sessions are invaluable, they meant face time with incredible people and open your mind to thinking in new ways.
More please!”

This week we held our fourth Thinking About… talk. Iain MacGregor gave a perfectly pitched account of what life was like for real people living and working in the shadow of the Berlin Wall. Eight SSLP schools were represented by an audience including students from years 8 to 13 and their teachers.
With a growing following and only four talks left you are encouraged to secure registration as early as possible. Next week we welcome Dr Mark Read Thinking About… how chemistry is used for Forensic Investigation.

We have sheet music available for all the instruments played in our schools, and adapted them for different levels of experience. We hope all schools will join in, record their contributions and by mid-July we will have a collaborative performance from our own homes!
