We’ve launched the third round of the SSLP Photography Competition – Motion & Distortion

SSLP Photography Competition
This week we launched the third of five rounds in the SSLP Photography Competition for staff and students. This month’s guest judge, Mel Bles, is looking for images that capture Motion and Distortion.
Submit your entries by Friday 31st March.

SSLP Photography 2023
Guest judge, Lille Eiger, has named Rahul from Kingsdale Foundation School and J Rogers from The Charter School East Dulwich as the student and staff winners of the SSLP Photography Competition Round 1 The Extraordinary Ordinary. Fathia from The Charter School North Dulwich and A Sayedi from Compass School Southwark are the runners-up.
Round 2, Natural Worlds, is open for submissions until Tuesday.

Twenty eight Key Stage 3 students from Ark Globe Academy, The Charter School East Dulwich, Compass School Southwark, Kingsdale Foundation School, Westminster City School and hosts Harris Boys Academy East Dulwich played in the SSLPs first Chess Tournament on Wednesday. All the participants showed great sportsmanship. Congratulations to Nasir, the overall winner, Alfie, the runner-up and the winning team who were from Kingsdale.

This half term six exclusive SSLP activities have been open to students, two more to staff and one to the whole school community. Thank you to all 246 people who have involved themselves with activities such as the Student Voice ProjectsPhotography Competition, and the Aspiring Leaders Programme.

Yesterday 200 KS3 students from six schools attended one of two lunchtime webinars given by JAGS alumna Sydny Lo. Sydney was our latest speaker in our So You Want To Be… series and told us all about her career in science, particularly Bio Technology. She was hosted by Amy, Emily, Inaya and Shaan who are currently studying Biology & Chemistry at JAGS.

On Wednesday evening 70 members of staff attended the second talk in our Aspiring Pastoral Leaders series, to hear from Professor Sonia Lupien talking about stress in childhood and adolescence.

CONNECTING STUDENTS
Over 200 students came to the SSLP Gospel Choir Workshop at Kingsdale Foundation School in November. Watch how they got on in this short video.

Librarians from across the SSLP met at South Bank University Academy on Monday. They discussed how to handle overdue books, creative ideas for marking World Book Day and how to diversify reading lists.
School Counsellors have also come together this week, via zoom. They discussed hosting trainees and bereavement groups.
SSLP Link teachers met on Wednesday at Alleyn’s, they discussed upcoming SSLP events, Student Ambassadors and initial plans for 2023/24.

SSLP Hubs bring together a variety of staff from across our schools.

On Tuesday this week ten SSLP teachers attended a three-hour twilight training session delivered by Debate Mate. They learnt about the Debate Mate core programme, Debate Mate rules for debating and were given ideas and resources for integrating debating into the classroom. This training is part of a package of debating support from the Worshipful Company of International Bankers, which will seven schools each receiving six debate workshops this term and a debating competition next term.

The SSLP Photography competition launched this week with guest judge, Lillie Eiger, and the first of five rounds, The Extraordinary Ordinary, announced.
